About the Study
This Study will assess Mills Road from US Route 52 to Cherry Hill Road and Cherry Hill Road from Mills Road to US Route 30. The limits include portions of unincorporated Will County, the Village of New Lenox, and the City of Joliet. These roads are uniquely located among a mixture of suburban, rural and industrial properties. The Study will include preliminary engineering and environmental assessments as the first step in a process to develop improvements to the roadway. This study will help the Project Team understand problems and develop solutions that are the best fit for the community.

Why it is Needed
The Mills-Cherry Hill Road Study is needed to improve safety and mobility along the study corridor.
The study intends to address the following:
- Distressed pavement that has exceeded its useful life
- Safety concerns for all roadway users
- Gaps in the pedestrian and bicycle network
- Pavement flooding & ponding in roadside ditches
